Search Tips get posted here for one of two reasons:
Readers are encouraged to submit suggestions to me at michael.john.neill@gmail.com, but they will be used at my discretion.
These Search Tips are not generated from press releases and I don’t make any claims to being a “genealogy news” site. There are enough of those and that’s simply not how I roll.
“Other things that cross” my desk are, generally speaking, related to where my children have ancestors or where I have a research interest. I’m always open to ideas from readers of sites they’d like to see mentioned, but “other things that cross my desk” are ones I encounter when doing actual research.
And…thanks for listening…and for reading.
Michael
Recently the FamilySearch database “Illinois, Cook County, Birth Certificates, 1871-1940” was mentioned here as having been updated. That’s correct.
The actual images are on http://cookcountygenealogy.com/. That’s the website for the Cook County, Illinois’ vital records office. Their indexes are not as current as those on FamilySearch.
The New Jersey State Archives has a variety of databases on their website. There are too many databases to list here completely, but they cover a variety of records and time periods. The databases are index only, but copies can be ordered.

We will look at the:
Our focus will be on interpreting the results and using them for continuing your genealogical research. A basic understanding of DNA is required. You do not need to be a “Tier 1” member of GedMatch to participate. Our approach is practical, easy-to-understand, and engaging.
The grid shows the “matching segment search.”

I will be taking two separate research trips in 2018. We always have a great time and welcome new participants. Our approach is relaxed–we don’t schedule activities non-stop. We want you to be in the library, not out sight-seeing.
