Searchboxes at FamilySearch Don’t Search Everything

Saturday, July 30th, 2016

There are many databases at FamilySearch that are available, but are not digitally indexed. Make certain to browse the collection list--and manually search those databases where the records are listed as “browse images.” search-familysearch

Google That Church Address

Wednesday, July 27th, 2016

Several years ago, I had the address of a church where a marriage was performed, but could not read the name. A quick Google search for the address gave me the probable name of the church.

Remember when googling any address:

  • have names been changed in the interim?
  • has the numbering changed?
  • are you transcribing the address correctly?

Google won’t know any of those things. It will search for what you ask it. And it’s suggestions may be incorrect.
